The more we receive, the more we can give, and the more we give, the more we can receive. This creates a cycle of productivity and prosperity.
When we give to others, does that create a loss or gain? Or, does the overall system of resources remain constant as they move about from giver to receiver?
If you take a look at society and examine the acts of giving and receiving, you can see a model start to take shape with Abundance on one end and Scarcity on the other. I think that most people have the misconception that giving entails a loss or sacrifice of their own resources, but if we examine the matter more carefully, we can see some unique effects take place that move society either towards Abundance or Scarcity.
Those who are Givers usually have an abundant resource to provide, while those who lack a resource are said to be in need. So what happens when those with abundant resources stop giving? As people start to hoard resources, the people in need don’t receive the support they require to build abundance in their own lives, which in turn negates their future ability to give to others. This attitude can perpetuate a cycle of perceived Scarcity, which only encourages more people to hoard (and deplete) the resources under their control. When we choose to not help others, it becomes less likely that someone will help us with something we need and the actual amount of available resources decreases.
Likewise, if those in need refuse to Receive, they will not receive the support they need to develop Abundance in their lives and consequently, they will not be in a position to help others in need. By refusing to Receive, we perpetuate a cycle of real Scarcity due to the fact that more people cannot add resources to the system while they continue to deplete them.

When you see another person, see yourself. If we were born with their same Nature and Nurture, we would likely be just like them. When we see ourselves in others, we become capable and compassionate human beings.
The point is to realize that Abundance in society requires us to be both givers and receivers. We need to develop the humility to receive help from others so we can create more resources. We also need to develop the compassion to help those in need so they can add more resources to the system.
The more we receive, the more we can give, and the more we give, the more we can receive. This creates a cycle of productivity and prosperity. So, when you hear someone tell you that giving will create blessings in your life, it is not just philosophical hype. Giving adds abundance to the very system that we receive from, and receiving makes possible the creation of additional resources to be added to the system.
Take a look at your life and determine where you have lack and excess and commit to creating more abundance in the world by giving away what you do not need and by receiving the things that you do.
